Arrival at Little Governors' Camp is an adventure in itself – the camp is reached by boat across the Mara River followed by a walk through riverine forest before arrival at pristine tents. This is prime wildlife territory in an undisturbed area bordering the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Elephants, monkeys and warthogs make regular appearances wandering through the camp, with the private verandahs overlooking the waterhole making excellent vantage spots.
Tents all have en suite bathrooms with handmade Kenyan ‘Cinnabar Green’ amenities which recognise the delicate environment. Meals are taken in the Dining Tent, with drinks often served next to a log fire next to the Bar Tent. There’s a relaxed rather than formal ambiance throughout.
Children are welcome, though there are no specific activities dedicated to children.
The camp’s eco-credentials are solid – it now functions completely on solar power and has been awarded with a Gold Eco-rating for its sustainable operations.
