Rekero Camp lies in the heart of the great Maasai Mara, an area rich with game, birds and beautiful savannah landscapes. The camp’s position close to the confluence of the Mara and Talek Rivers makes it ideal for observing the spectacular migration of mass herds of wildebeest as they make their circular journey between the Maasai Mara and the Serengeti plains (August to November). Indeed, the dining tent is situated just 150 metres from a crossing point on the Talek River.
Positioned along the river’s edge are nine classic safari style tents, each with large private verandah and en suite bathroom with hot shower. Two of the tents are more spacious, with separate bedrooms designed for families of up to five.
A spacious mess tent is complemented by a large wooden terrace – an excellent vantage spot overlooking the river. Meals are served on a communal basis with buffet breakfasts and lunches and three course, silver service dinners. Tea and cake are served daily at 4pm.
Children aged over five years are welcome at Rekero Camp, though parents should note that the camp is un-fenced and so children should not be allowed to go free range.
