Set in the middle of Tanzania's Songo Songo archipelago - a string of six tiny, mostly uninhabited islets - this Robinson Crusoe-style resort is proof that private island hotels do not have to cost the earth. With just six palm and thatch bandas, shaped like the sail of a dhow, strung along the powder-white sands, seclusion is a given. There's little else here to interrupt except the pristine coastline, save the crumbling ruins of a 19th-century lighthouse and the remains of a former fishermen's settlement.
