Old Mondoro is a simple, rustic bush camp located in a remote and pristine area of the Lower Zambezi National Park. The camp was named after a mythical white lion that puportedly prowled the nearby plains ('mondoro' meaning lion in the Goba language). The five chalets blend effortlessly into the landscape and feature canvas roofs, outdoor bamboo-fenced bathrooms and a daybed on the wooden deck. At the heart of the camp is an open-air dining area, a lounge space with wicker sofas and a well-stocked bar.
Begin the day with warming porridge cooked on the camp fire before setting out on an early game drive or bush walk. After your afternoon adventures, unwind on the deck observing the Zambezi wildlife passing by. The freestanding bath tubs with views of the savannah provide the opportunity for a memorable soak, surrounded by the Zambian wilderness. As the night draws in, relax with sundowners around the campfire as the sun sets over the park and its nocturnal residents begin to make their presence known.
