The Penthouse's incongruous location at the top of a modern office block in historic central Kolkata belies the elegant old-world charm behind its carved wooden doors. There are just nine colonial-style rooms; individually decorated, light-filled spaces with cool marble floors, whirring vintage fans and antique four-posters draped in hand-embroidered linens. Up on the rooftop terrace, with its pretty infinity pool, guests are treated to sweeping city views of the Victoria Memorial and a patchwork of overlapping cricket pitches in the Maidan, Kolkata's central park.
