Setting the gold standard for harmony and relaxation in 100-acres of pristine Balinese forest, Como Shambhala Estate offers holistic healing in a natural setting and gives guests the luxury of plenty of personal space.
TREATMENTS AND ACTIVITIES
The weekly schedule of included group activities offers yoga, mat Pilates, cycle rides, rock climbing, meditation and aqua fit. Guests can also book private classes or join one of the regular walks around the estate, well worth doing more than once and easily accomplished without guidance. Como Shambhala Estate invests in the local community not only by employing local staff but by training them to be skilled yoga teachers, activity instructors and massage therapists. Staff are always keen to exchange cultural insights so you'll have the chance to learn a great deal about Balinese culture should you wish.
PRACTITIONERS
Free your soul, open your mind and heal your body with the help of expert practitioners in Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Ayurveda is now gaining in worldwide popularity but Como Shambhala Estate was in fact the first place outside India to be certified to deliver this form of alternative medicine.
FACILITIES
The beautiful, central spa has a variety of treatment rooms and an airy yoga sala, open on both sides to take advantage of the breeze. In addition, a number of massage rooms are tucked away in the trees and dotted around the hillside. The Pilates studio is likewise situated with views through the trees down to the river.A large, heated, outdoor lap pool overlooks terraced gardens but perhaps the most magical bathing experience can be had at Spring Pools, a series of rock pools that jut from the hillside surrounded by shady forest. Perfect for a cooling dip after an estate walk.
SLEEPING
Very little about Como Shambhala Estate feels like a hotel….it is very much more than that, a place you can make your own. Whether staying in a room, suite or private pool villa (from one to five bedrooms), the sense of personal space is striking.
EATING
Two restaurants serve a range of Asian classics including traditional Thai, Indian and Japanese dishes. Glow, with its open kitchen, is open daily for lunch and dinner and also has a superb raw menu. The traditionally-styled Kudus House serves breakfast every day and dinner on three evenings a week.
