In the heart of Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle, Water Garden Sigiriya is a proud tribute to the country's artists past and present. Revered local architect (and Geoffrey Bawa protégé) Channa Daswatte is responsible for the design, which takes inspiration from the towering rock fortress and ancient water gardens that form the hotel's dramatic backdrop. In the restaurant hangs a monumental sculptural chandelier by renowned contemporary artist Laki Senanayake.
The villas themselves are dotted over 35 tranquil acres of abundant tropical vegetation and meticulously designed waterways, which attract peacocks and egrets aplenty. Spacious rooms boast elegant and contemporary interiors; some even benefit from private plunge pools.
