Destroyed by devastating bush fires in the Australian summer of 2019-2020, one of Australia's most iconic luxury lodges is due to relaunch on 6th December 2023 following a sympathetic rebuild. Perched on the edge of limestone cliffs along a dramatic, rugged stretch of the coastline at Hanson Bay on Kangaroo Island, the lodge commands spectacular vistas over the Southern Ocean and provides a peaceful sanctuary of pure luxury and relaxation. Its position between Finders Chase National Park and Seal Bay Conservation Park ensures splendid wildlife opportunities.
The 25 suites, named after ships which were shipwrecked on the island, are sculpted along the contours of the hill above the shores and designed to take full advantage of the magnificent wilderness views. Four suite categories range from Flinders Suite to the truly indulgent Ocean Pavilion. They feature king beds, sunken sitting rooms, outdoor terraces with day beds, beautiful en-suite bathrooms and dressing rooms. Bespoke artworks and furnishings by Kangaroo Island artists enhance the sense of place.
The Great Room has been restored and is the impressive hub of the lodge, with a dramatic panorama again taking centre stage when dining or simply relaxing.
N.B: Signature itineraries from a range of guided island excursions are tailored for guests.
