A children’s menu is available in the restaurant and babysitting is available. Children will also love Wharekauhau’s working farm. There is autumn sheep shearing to watch and, if you are visiting during lambing season, there may be opportunity to bottle-feed a new-born lamb.

The daily-designed menu in the restaurant is full of farm-sourced produce gathered from the garden, orchard and surrounding farm. Tender lamb, juicy beef, farm fresh eggs and seasonal produce will be served daily in the restaurant and rustic country kitchen.

Wharekauhau is a highly successful farming operation set amid mountains, gorges and the Pacific coastline, a 4WD tour of the farm with a knowledgeable guide will reveal the unique topography. Guests can experience New Zealand station-life first hand, learning about Romney and Texel sheep and how to manage the 10,000 new lambs that arrive every spring. Angus and Simmental beef cattle breeds will also be found roaming Speckle Park.
