One of the last commercial barges to be built, Belmond Napoleon was beautifully restored and converted into a luxury, floating boutique hotel in 1963. To this day she provides an ideal base for a family adventure or for a group of friends on which to explore the tranquil French waterways of Provence.
Your experience begins with a Champagne reception on board as you meet the crew, who will gradually become a second family to you over the coming days. Once settled into your cabin, dinner will be served in one of the dining rooms as you begin to plan your adventures for the days to come.
Napoleon boasts six spacious cabins each with picture windows, king or twin beds, en-suite bathrooms with shower and a writing desk and chair, creating a private sanctuary. Be prepared for around the clock indulgence as the crew attend to your every desire, seemingly endless meals are served, and delicious French wines poured. All supplies are sourced locally to provide an authentic French experience, complemented by visits to colourful markets and local vineyards. Continental breakfasts can be taken in the comfort of your cabin and lunches and dinners in the dining room.
Days are filled with visits from specialists in their field, truffle hunting, cycling, and walking through Provence’s lavender-strewn fields and exploring local chateaux. A spectacular hot air balloon flight is strongly recommended as the highlight of any barge holiday.
