The region around La Bastide du Paradou is rich with the archaeological remains from its Roman occupation in 2nd century, while the village of Paradou itself also bears proof of settlement during this period. Historically the property was once the village’s Town Hall and then school and boasts a 300-year-old plane tree in the garden reported to be the oldest in France. With this historical backdrop in mind, the interior décor of this Provencal farmhouse cleverly mixes traditional materials, high-end comfort, and unique creations; ancient beams and old doors blend with blown glass lights, jute rugs stunning mirrors and lighting and trappings from local artisans.
Entering the impressive hallway you are greeted by the gently lit, glass wall of the villa’s wine cellar and then the grand living room, dominated by two imposing paintings by Jules Milhau, an artist renowned for his works which capture the essence of Provence. Both the contemporary lighting and unique ceramics that adorn the living room have been commissioned and created by artisans from the Luberon, while the room’s fireplace is highlighted by works from Emmanuelle Luciani of Marseille, bringing an additional contemporary touch to the traditional ambiance.
There’s a large dining room table and a vast kitchen, equipped with professional equipment plus two further spacious living rooms (one a cinema room) with cozy sofas and furniture found at local flea markets paired with unique contemporary design pieces.
The Mas offers seven bedrooms and suites, all air-conditioned, with private bathrooms equipped with limestone walk-in showers. Each room is different, yet combines complete luxury and comfort; king-size beds, Vispring mattresses, wall tapestries, and lime plaster in soothing colour tones.
Outside there is a stunning pool house and an 18-meter infinity pool, a 150m2 fitness area with a spa and massage section and a tennis court.
