A complete renovation project has restored life to this impressive French 'Chartreuse', which sits in the charming Dordogne village of Calès with a couple of small restaurants within a short walk. The five hectares of private, walled gardens feature a small woodland area, terraced lawns, roses and lavender as well as a large pool, with plenty of picnic spots and areas to relax under the shade of a tall cedar tree.
Respecting its past glories, the owners have made the most out of the high, beamed celings and the pink marble staircase and wrought-iron ballustrade that connects the three storeys is an outstanding feature of the house. The décor is one of simple elegance with contemporary and traditional furnishings mixing effortlessly to provide comfortable living spaces. The ground floor is typified by original stone floors and fireplaces with a typical French country kitchen, dining area and living room all opening on to the terrace and the pathway to the heated swimming pool.
