Perched on the cliff edge with views of Disko Bay's colliding icebergs and puttering fishing boats, Ilimanaq Lodge offers front row seats to one of nature's most mesmerising shows. Thanks to vast panoramic windows, spectacular ice fiord views can be enjoyed from the comfort of your bed or your private terrace. The lodge’s 15 inviting cabins feature distinctive charcoal roofs which echo the craggy coastal tundra, and are equipped with solar panels powering the electricity and heating. Any excess energy generated during the long Northern summers is offered at an affordable price to the village residents. Expect sleek Nordic design and clean architectural lines throughout the lodge, with the eye constantly drawn out to the wonders of Disko Bay beyond.
Two restaurants are located in the neighbouring historic buildings, and some of Greenland's best cuisine in the region can be enjoyed here. As you might expect, some of the finest local produce is celebrated, such as fjord-fresh fish seasoned with foraged herbs and game galore. The acclaim of the culinary offering here is perhaps all the more impressive given that Ilimanaq Lodge can only be reached by boat. It is well worth the journey.
