Villa Argentario is a stylish minimalist villa surrounded by ancient olive groves and rolling hills, close to the medieval village of Capalbio. Built as a personal Tuscan retreat by acclaimed Italian architect, the late Alfredo Amati, it is a modern villa, showcasing environmentally sensitive design and contemporary villa living.
Capalbio is a charming hilltop medieval village with a rich history, from the 15th Century Sienese gate to the renaissance frescoes in the Church of San Nicola. It has a good choice of grocery shops, bars, and local restaurants to discover too.
The villa is just 15 minutes’ drive from the Tyrrhenian Coast, ideally located for exploring fashionable Porto Ercole and the island archipelago of Montecristo and Giglio, and only an hour’s drive from Florence.
Further afield the nature reserve of Lake Burano, a former hunting estate, is now a protected coastal reserve run by WWF, and home to many rare birds and species of flora and fauna. Visits can be made by appointment.
