Hidden away in the green folds of Umbria is Il Carmine: a spacious and stylish eight bedroom retreat, surrounded with several hectares of olive groves and light woodland. The seclusion is thanks to the estate's former purpose: a former monastery, restored and transformed into a luxury residence. The setting is one of idyllic scenery and back-to-nature tranquillity - only the morning cry of cockerels, a braying donkey, or the flutter of doves to break the silence.
The accommodation has been recently renovated with great care and an eye for detail. Located in a separate farmhouse, the bedrooms are comfortable and well-presented with en-suite bathrooms. Outdoors are large stone terraces, which make perfect dining locations and the big flower pots, olive trees, lavender and rosemary give the gardens a Mediterranean feel. The estate produces its own wine and olive oil, which are available to guests and there is also a fishing lake and truffle wood, which are criss-crossed with a network of walking trails.
