A labour of love, El Refugio is a charming Andalucian farmhouse, converted into boutique luxury accommodation. Renovated with great care and sensitivity for its origin and location, the property is a stylish mix of traditional terracotta floors and beamed ceilings with contemporary comforts and furnishings.
Great value too, the three-bedroom house is set on a ten-acre estate on the edge of the Maroma National Park. (Sister property El Cortijo is on the same estate, sleeping up to 8 guests).
Despite being only 30 minutes from the coast, and within easy reach of Malaga and the airport, the sense here is one of peaceful isolation. Roads are unnamed and goats more populous than cars. A traditional, sleepy white-washed village is 10 minutes away, with restaurants.
For all its bucolic charm, El Refugio is always entirely modernised. Features include a heated swimming pool, underfloor heating system, WiFi, Bluetooth and Airplay throughout.
