With its three private villas nestled in 1,300 acres of olive groves, citrus trees and Balearic coastline, the Son Bunyola estate has long been one of the most exclusive getaways on Mallorca. The opening of a stylish boutique hotel in June 2023 adds a fresh dimension to this unique retreat. Renovating the 16th century finca at Son Bunyola’s heart has been a passion project for Virgin Limited Edition boss Sir Richard Branson, who holidayed on Mallorca as a child and remains a regular visitor to the island. Working with a local architecture studio and interior design house, the historic building has been sympathetically restored to preserve its unique character and footprint, while adding the contemporary comforts and luxurious style you would expect from a Virgin Limited Edition property.
26 rooms and suites combine clean modern lines with timeless original features. Beamed ceilings rise above polished wooden floors, while wide picture windows allow Mallorca’s warm natural light to wash over interiors dressed in gentle tones of green, brown and grey. The two Tower Suites are a particular highlight, each offering 360-degree views of surrounding landscapes. Rooms are all well-appointed, with extras including GHB hair straighteners, espadrilles, yoga mats and bricks, large umbrellas (usually redundant!) and a complimentary minibar. The hotel joins Son Bunyola’s three villas, Sa Punta de S’Aguila, Son Balagueret and Sa Terra Rotja, each boasting bountiful amounts of space, a private heated swimming pool and beautiful al fresco dining terraces.
