Nine generations of the Fjellborg family have cared for this exclusive-use lodge in Swedish Lapland, and their expertise shows at every turn. Its four homely bedrooms are available only during the Arctic winter, from November until April. The winter sun sits below the horizon, eventually giving way to bright long days of outdoor activity that end in delicious, locally sourced Lappish meals.
Reaching the lodge is an adventure unto itself, involving a flight to the remote airport of Kiruna, followed by a dog sled journey either directly from the airport or from the family’s homestead. Whether you remain a passenger or take the reins yourself, it is an exhilarating start to any stay and a taste of more excitement to come. This secluded oasis sits in a forest 200 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle: a wilderness perfectly poised for magical encounters.
