Its central waterfront location gives the Lydmar Hotel the upper hand in Stockholm – as well as offering views of the royal castle, Old Town and harbour from many of its modern, characterful rooms. There’s a stylish yet individualist air to the hotel’s living areas (one on each floor), if not a little wild abandon in its inviting interior design: supersized photographs of eccentric puppies hang on walls, while bizarre and intriguing accessories line shelves. All of which cannot fail to spark a smile.
Lydmar’s restaurant serves a fusion of Swedish and French cuisine that is perhaps surprisingly successful, with a French garden terrace that presents a dynamic dining setting. Guests can also slip away to a spa and fitness centre next door.
