Undisturbed in the former resort village of Lyckorna, on Sweden’s south-west coast, owner Ellika Mogenfelt has put much of her family and the region’s history into Villa Sjotorp. The quaint building was once her great grandfather’s summer house, where a charming white Gothic façade and terrace offer the warmest of welcomes. Its 14 bedrooms – some with views of the calm water’s edge – are reminiscent of another, simpler era. There may be iron bedsteads, embroidered pillows and floral wallpapers, but this hotel is far from twee.
