This morning, journey northwards into England's heart. You might like to start in London, or else take the train to a more convenient location. Your first port of call will be the delightful Regency spa town of Buxton, nestled on the edge of the Peak District. The town's elegance is evocative of Bath, but fewer crowds venture here. Explore the town, perhaps visiting the Pump Room to 'take the waters' and discover the glorious architecture of The Crescent and Hot Baths. Journey onwards to the picturesque gem of Bakewell, known for its eponymous tarts. Be sure to get a taste of the town, before travelling to Baslow, where you will check into The Cavendish Hotel, part of the Chatsworth estate and owned by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.

Leaving Yorkshire behind, you will first make a stop in the heart of Brontë country to explore the lives and legacy of the famous authoress sisters, whose literary works have been so widely appreciated across many generations. Continue into the heart of the Lake District, the area of northwest England characterised by expansive inland lakes, craggy peaks and windswept fells. Known for its literary connections, with these wild and untamed landscapes it is no surprise that the region offered inspiration to some of the greatest names in poetry and prose. Stop off at the largest body of water in the area, Lake Windermere, and take a steamer boat across the lake for the very best vistas of the surrounding panoramas.
