Day 1 Arrive Buenos Aires
Transfer to the Hotel Nuss in Palermo in time for early brunch. In the afternoon you will be accompanied by a scholar of the university for the Four Plazas city tour to understand the history, peoples and varying cultures of Buenos Aires and Argentina. Relax in one of the many bars and restaurants in Palermo and spend the next three nights on Bed and Breakfast basis.

Day 2 Buenos Aires
Depart at 07h30 to the Buenos Aires Liniers livestock market. This is the biggest market of its type in the world, where 10,000 cows arrive for auction from Monday to Thursday. A fascinating spectacle with the gauchos from the Pampas trading with the urban 'Porteno' gauchos of Buenos Aires. Afternoon cooking workshop to understand Argentina by way of 'gastrosophy'.

Day 3 Buenos Aires
A day at leisure to explore the surrounding area or we could organise a specialist tour (historical, cultural, museum, photography, nature, gastronomy, wine tasting, biking or kayaking). Evening Tango show with dinner.

Day 4 Fly to Salta
Salta has a wonderful atmosphere and feels quite unlike anywhere else in Argentina. The central plaza is a buzz in the evenings with al fresco dining and bars. Salta is home to the delicious 'empanada' (small pasty) which is best enjoyed at one of the local cafes.

Day 5 Salta
Spend a lazy day in the plaza exploring the side streets and visiting the exceptional Maam archaeological Museum which houses Inca artefacts and mummies discovered in the Andes in the Salta Province.

Day 6 Cafayate
Either chose to self drive or have your own guide and driver for the spectacular drive south to the town of Cayfayate. The town of Cayfayate is growing considerably from the increase in wine production in the region. Your hotel for the next two nights will be Grace Cafayate, the most luxurious and modern hotel in the area.

Day 7 Cafayate
Spend a day visiting the wineries and exploring the town or just relaxing at the beautiful historic hotel (built in 1892 and a former country estate). The gardens are full of lavender and there are enchanting views to the mountains which are stunning at sunset.

Day 8 Drive to Molinos
Another spectacular drive on the circuit north back towards Salta through incredible rock formations, rich colours, desert, dried river beds and cactus forests. This journey is on a more adventurous dirt road ending in a warm welcome in the small village of Molinos. The lodging at Hacienda Molinos is more simple but charming.

Day 9 Drive to Cachi
A side trip from Molinos first will take you to the James Turrell museum and lunch at the winery at Colome. Continue onto the bustling town of Cachi and your homely accommodation just outside the town.

A restful day to relax and enjoy.

Day 11 Drive to Salta
A long but yet again spectacular drive will finally take you back to Salta and your country house hotel close to the airport.

Day 12 Travel home
Either return to Buenos Aires or fly to Iguazu Falls and connect with Sao Paulo or Rio for your flight home. It is also possible to cross over to the Atacama Desert in Chile from Salta and then finish your itinerary in Santiago.
