Day 1 Arrive in Belize

On arrival into Belize privately transfer to the Cayo District and Ka’ana Boutique Resort. Tucked in the heart of Belize, Ka’ana offers a luxury escape surrounded by leafy and verdant jungle. A marriage of luxury and rustic, the property offers comfortable bedrooms and villas with aquamarine pools, together with jungle adventures to Maya Temples and hidden caves. Explore the Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave, meandering through the cave system before coming to a large centre where Maya ceremonies once took place. Try cave tubing through subtropical rivers and lagoons, before heading into the inky black cave system, or perhaps try kayaking below the jungle canopy.

Day 2 Discover Xunantunich and Barton Creek

Wake up to your first full day on your Belize vacation, and spend a full day exploring the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich and Barton Creek which are two spectacular ancient sites. Framed by the thick Belizean forest Xunantunich was once used as a ceremonial site, and holds over 1,400 years of history. Explore the site with your guide, learning more about the culture, sacrifice and history that took place and climb to the top of the main temple for unhindered panoramic views over the jungle tree tops, looking out for soaring macaws and toucans. Alternatively, explore the site on horseback, riding through the dense, tropical rainforest and discovering the secrets of Xunantunich. When ready continue to Barton Creek and jump in a kayak to explore the ancient burial site, where Mayan’s once sacrificed their fellow humans, and performed fertility rituals.

Day 3 At leisure

Today enjoy a full day at leisure, doing as much or as little as you like. Perhaps explore the Mountain Pine Ridge, where the snaking Privission Creek boasts hidden lagoons and bubbling waterfalls. If you like, continue brushing up on your Maya history with a trip to Caracol, the largest Mayan city in Belize, and learn more about the archaeology and excavations still taking place. Look out for the wildlife that hides behind the jungle fauna, including jaguars, tapirs and monkeys, before returning to the hotel to sit back and relax.

Day 4 Fly to Ambergris Caye

Transfer by car to Belize City, and take a charter flight over to Ambergris Caye, which sits on a ribbon of land bordering the azure Belize Barrier Reef. Surrounded by a peppering of smaller private cayes, crystal clear waters and a laid-back Caribbean lifestyle, this is the perfect place to sit back and soak up the tropical sun. You will be staying at Victoria House, considered one of the best resorts in Belize, it’s a beautiful combination of Caribbean luxury and rustic Belizean style, with palm frond fringed villas, manicured green lawns and stones throw from the Caribbean Sea. Sail, snorkel, dive, kayak, fish and windsurf, or simply sit back with a good book in hand and embrace the warming sunshine.

Day 5 - 7 Days at leisure in Ambergris Caye

Spend the next three days at leisure, embracing the beach way of life. Throw on your snorkel and flippers and explore the Belize Barrier Reef, the second largest reef in the world, and the most preserved one. Diving beneath the cool Caribbean waters, discover the plethora of marine life that lives below, gently swimming over vibrant splashes of coral and passing by curious fish. With thousands of species still to be discovered, this is a diver’s paradise, and a wonderful way to spend the day. Stop for a Robinson Crusoe style picnic lunch on an empty caye, before returning to the deep blue waters. Offering simple pleasures, spend a day exploring the charming beachside town either by bike or on foot, wandering down the long sandy beaches and sandy beach path, passing cool beach restaurants and bars.

Day 8 Fly to Belize City

After one last delicious breakfast on the beach, transfer to the airport to catch a domestic flight to Belize City. On arrival, connect with your International flight home, waving goodbye to the glorious azures, sapphires and cobalt's of the Belize Barrier Reef and the verdant flourishing jungle.
