Day 1 Arrival, San Jose
Arrive into Costa Rica’s capital San Jose, located in the central valley and transfer to Hotel Grano de Oro (which translates into Grain of Gold, in reference to the coffee bean). Unwind with a dip in the jacuzzi tub on the pretty roof top terrace before enjoying a delicious dinner paired with a special bottle from the award-winning wine cellar.

Day 2 San Jose to Pacuare Lodge
Head out of the city to discover one of Costa Rica’s most biologically diverse tropical rainforests. Beginning with an adrenaline-fuelled rafting adventure; you’ll ride down one of the world’s most scenic rivers weaving through a dense tropical wilderness and tumbling waterfalls, before arriving and enjoying a hearty lunch at Pacuare Lodge. During the afternoon explore the tropical mountains on foot or simply relax in the sublime tranquillity of the lodge.

Day 3 Pacuare Lodge Canopy Adventure
Wake up to the tropical bird song and effervescent river water before enjoying an unhurried day in the rainforest. A leisurely trek up to the first platform delivers magnificent views over the surrounding landscape; a haven for nature explorers and bird watchers, as you’ll see the busy woodpeckers and the pretty red throated ant tangers going about their business. During the evening watch the sun set through the trees with a cocktail in hand, light some candles and sit down to tasty, comforting fare such as rib-eye steak with fresh vegetables and salad picked from the organic kitchen garden.

Day 4 White Water Rafting Tour to San Jose
After breakfast and an easy morning, the route out of Pacuare Lodge is back down the river by raft to Siquirres. After a pause to change clothes and catch your breath you’ll continue the journey by road back to San José.

Day 5 San Jose to Osa Peninsula
Fly 50 minutes south to the coastal town of Puerto Jimenez and head for Lapa Rios Ecolodge. Set in a private thousand-acre nature reserve, the lodge’s 17 bungalows (well actually more ‘lofty tree houses’) sit suspended 350m above sea level, thus promising lovely views over the rainforest rooftop and ocean beyond. Spend the afternoon relaxing, spotting the howler monkeys, macaws and toucans and enjoy delicious responsibly-sourced seafood, grass-fed beef and freshly roasted Costa Rican coffee on the dinner menu.

Day 6 - 7 Lapa Rios
Spend two full days exploring the Osa Peninsular. National Geographic named it "the most biologically intense place on Earth" and ecologists have labelled it “the Path of the Panther". There are many activities offered here, from a local medicine tour to a rainforest ridge walk, the opportunity to go in search of the elusive puma on the Osa Trail or enjoy a mysterious night walk. However, if you simply want to relax on your private veranda taking in the spectacular panorama where the lush green wilderness melts into the turquoise horizon, then that’s perfectly fine too.

Day 8 Osa Peninsula to Morgan's Rock, Nicaragua
Fly from Puerto Jimenez to Costa Esmeralda in Nicaragua, via San Jose. Transfer 45 minutes to Morgan's Rock and enjoy the afternoon at leisure; stroll along the beach with the sand between your toes and the sea air inspiring the soul, on the stunning Emerald Coast.

Day 9 - 11 Relax at Morgan's Rock
Enjoy two days as you please in this wild and secret hideaway. Time to wholly relax with miles of silvery sands to explore, gentle waves lapping at your feet and an exceptional spa to ease aches and pains then restore the mind. Alternatively, be a little more active with a surf lesson, yoga or relax with a massage in the beach spa. Enjoy the delicious gastronomy, or a candle-lit beach affair beside the crackling bonfire or perhaps a light lunch and fresh-fruit smoothie poolside.

Day 12 Departure from San Jose
Fly back to San Jose (or Managua depending on your flight schedule) to connect with your international flight home.
