The lodge’s accommodation offers options for escapes of every size and shape – from romantic couples’ retreats to multi-generational family getaways – in unique spaces adorned with rustic Western features and local Santa Fe art, artefacts and textiles. The selection of guest rooms come with private terraces, traditional kiva fireplaces and boldly-patterned Navajo rugs. If you want more space, opt for a suite with unique features including plunge pools and steel-frame canopied beds. For larger parties there are three-bedroom casitas and the 12-bedroom bunkhouse, an expansive hideaway with vaulted ceilings and two-storey stone fireplace.

Alternatively, you can get out into the rugged New Mexico landscapes on walking tours, fly fishing expeditions and stand-up paddle boarding adventures on the waters of the Rio Grande.

Options for wining and dining are similarly varied. One of the undeniable highlights is SkyFire, a stunningly situated restaurant where the views are almost as good as the food. Chef Pablo Peñalosa brings his experience in some of the best kitchens in Spain and Mexico to bear on a menu showcasing the finest of Santa Fe’s local flavours – much of it cooked over roaring wood-fired grills.
